Here at the start of week seven, our top 10 begins to stabilize. Alabama remains on top with a ridiculous defensive efficiency of 0.0 +/- 10.9 PPH. To put that in perspective, we would expect the Crimson Tide to surrender 9.7 PPH to Wisconsin, 10.1 PPH to LSU, 10.0 PPH to Stanford, and 10.0 PPH to Oklahoma. Coupled with a stunningly consistent and powerful offense (29.2 +/- 9.3 PPH), Alabama is an unquestioned and fearsome #1 team.
The two big movers in the top 25 are Notre Dame (+9) and Auburn (-10). We love to mock the Irish, but they've been gaining rapidly now that they've stopped turning the ball over so often. In contrast, Auburn is in free fall, as their offensive efficiency drops from last year's team. With Florida's and LSU's defenses on the horizon, we should expect Auburn to drop further.
